Finance Manager


Location: Nairobi


About the Job
As the company continues to experience significant growth, a new and exciting opportunity has arisen in the finance department. We are looking to fill the finance manager role to ensure complete, accurate, timely reporting of quality information as well as compliance and business support.


The successful individual will work closely with the country finance manager and report to Finance Director. The holder of the position will be expected to perform the following responsibilities.


1. Fixed asset management:
• Regularly maintaining and updating fixed assets register with additions, disposals and asset write offs
• Arranging for tagging and regular verification of all fixed assets
• Arranging for insurance of fixed assets
• Monitoring fixed asset purchase requests to ensure they are budgeted for or preapproved; issue fixed asset codes for the purposes of complying with the company’s procured to pay policies.


2. Inventory management:
• Maintaining and updating inventory records in the accounting ERP
• Arranging for regular stock count
• Reviewing inventory records with an aim of recommending inventories for write off and provision
• Ensuring that inventory is adequately insured
• Keeping checks on inventory issues


3. Taxation:
• Compliance with the statutory requirements on NSSF; NHIF; WIBA; income taxes


4. Preparation of monthly management accounts including budget vs actual comparisons
5. Supporting in annual statutory and group reporting
6. Preparation of annual financial statements
7. Supporting in the audit of annual financial statements
8. Finance manual: custodian of the company’s standard operating procedures in the finance and ensuring the procedures remain up to date.
9. Reconciliations and supporting schedules for all account balances - bank and cash balances; accounts payables; receivables; PPE; leases; prepayments and other receivables, among other account balances.
10. Project management: monitoring the trackers.

11.Reviewing chart of accounts for all the entities in the group to ensure uniformity.

12.Monitoring and ensuring that our policies, procedures and processes are applied uniformly across the group.

13.Co-ordinating finance calendars across the group/project management role.

14.Preparation and analysis of monthly consolidated management accounts. 

15. Coordinating the budgets at the group level and most importantly monitoring the budgets against the actuals. 

16.Coordinating monthly closing procedures across the group.

17.Preparation of annual consolidated financial statements and ensuring they are audited with the set time frames. 

18.Handling company secretarial matters.


Minimum qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, commerce, economics, or business-related field from a reputable university
  • CPA (K) or equivalent
  • Member of professional associations such as CPA, CIMA, ICPAK, ACCA etc. in good standing
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a busy environment
  • At least (10) ten years’ experience in a busy accounting and reporting environment.


Good to have

  • Project management skills
  • Experience in ERP environment
  • Conversant with the recent developments in accounting and finance field
